1. Overview of Talent Development
The School of Integrated Circuits of Tsinghua University has more than 60 years' experience, with multi-disciplinary advantages covering the entire industrial chain of integrated circuits. Its talent development and scientific research capabilities are ranked among the top internationally. Since the establishment of the semiconductor major in the Department of Radio Electronics in 1956, Tsinghua University has gradually formed a comprehensive and balanced arrangement of integrated circuit technology development, covering sub-directions such as processes, device physics, circuit design, and EDA technology. The arrangement covers the whole research field from bottom-level principles to top-level applications of integrated circuit technology, and a relatively complete discipline layout has been formed.
In 2003, Tsinghua University was among the first to be approved to build the "National IC Talent Training Base". In 2015, Tsinghua University became one of the first batch of construction sites for the National Demonstration School of Microelectronics. In 2019, it was the first to be approved to build the "National Industry-Academia Collaborative Innovation Platform on Integrated Circuits". In April 2021, the School of Integrated Circuits was established.
The School of Integrated Circuits of Tsinghua University not only focuses on the nurturing of academic talents to drive knowledge innovation but also nurtures practical talents to meet industrial needs. At the same time, centered around the "Electronic Information" professional degree, the school has set up multiple subdivision directions and projects, and equally values both types of talents to increasingly propagate the high-level talents in the field of integrated circuits that our country urgently needs.
The discipline of "Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering" is composed of three secondary disciplines: integrated nanoelectronics science, integrated circuit design and electronic design automation, and integrated circuit manufacturing engineering. The discipline is committed to tackling fundamental science and engineering challenges in circuit design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, and other core industrial phases, while primarily training doctoral students in engineering.
The professional "Electronic Information" degree aims to nurture application-oriented and inter-disciplinary high-level talents in integrated circuit engineering technology and engineering management, including master's and doctoral program. Master's program is divided into three subdivisions namely, integrated circuit engineering, integrated circuit technology and management, and integrated circuit advanced manufacturing.
