Leibo Liu Professor

Prof. Leibo Liu is a tenured professor and PhD advisor with the School of Integrated Circuits, Tsinghua University. He is a Changjiang Distinguished Professor awarded by the Ministry of Education, and he is also in charge of a national first-class undergraduate course.

Prof. Liu received his bachelor's and doctor's degrees from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University, in 1999 and 2004, respectively. In 2004, he joint the Institute of Microelectronics Tsinghua University. In 2006, 2013 and 2017, he visited Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oxford University as a visiting scholar. His work has focused on software-defined chips, hardware security, cryptographic chips, and VLSI digital signal processing. He has published more than 300 papers and has 150 patents including 20 US patents. He also authored 9 books and translated 4 books. He has participated in the formulation of a national standard. Prof. Liu served the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Circuits and System Magazine, and the Executive Editor Associate Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering. He is the TPC committee member of Design Automation Conference (DAC), Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems(CHES), the top conference in the field of cryptographic hardware. He is the conference chair of Asian Solid-State Circuit Conference. A-SSCC2023 and the vice chairman of the Cryptographic Chip Special Committee of the Chinese Association for Cryptographic Research. He is also the ISO/IECJTC1/SC27 international standard registration expert. Key technologies have been applied to major national projects. He has won the second prize of the National Award for Technological Invention, Chinese Patent Golden Award, the first prize of Technological Invention Award by the Ministry of Education, the first prize of Technological Invention Award by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and fifteen world leading Internet scientific and technological achievements of the World Internet Conference.

Prof. Liu hosts three courses, which has won the national first-class undergraduate courses, excellent undergraduate courses of Tsinghua University. The MOOC that he has been in charge of has been selected into the first batch of online teaching international platforms of universities by the Ministry of Education. He has received multiple teaching awards such as the first prize of Beijing Young Teacher Teaching Competition, the first prize of Tsinghua University Young Teacher Teaching Competition and Tsinghua University Young Teacher Teaching Excellence Award, Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Teaching Pioneer Award. He has won the title of “the mentor of the student” awarded by Tsinghua University.
